New Advancement Applies “Artificial Magnetic Texture” To Graphene

A team of international researchers led by the University of Buffalo has recently reported a development in its studies, revealing that it is possible to give graphene magnetic properties. By using ultra-small magnets and electrodes on the graphene, it begins exhibiting properties of magnets, without originally having this characteristic.

This achievement, created with spintronics, or spin-based electronics, can assist with the creation of smaller data storage devices and the study of quantum computing, is limitless in its applications in next-gen technologies.
