Japanese material developer Green Science Alliance developed a new composite material, derived from a combination of graphene quantum dots, or extremely thin layers of graphene, as well as silica, or silicon dioxide.
The composite can potentially be used for creating white LEDs from blue LEDs, offering an efficient alternative. GS Alliance believes the new white LED to be cheaper than others, due to the composite material.
