Researchers Produce Hyper-conductive Graphene-enhanced Hydrogel

Researchers from Kiel University have developed a method of production of graphene-enhanced hydrogels with incredible levels of electrical conductivity. The material is altered to increase conductivity, but its mechanical properties remain the same.

Dr. Fabian Schütt, leader of the group, explained that graphene has “outstanding electrical and mechanical properties, and is extremely light.” Because less graphene was used than in previous studies, the key properties of the hydrogel remain mostly the same, with only few discrepancies.

This discovery has the potential to allow this hydrogel to be utilized in medical fields, such as functional implants.
