For the longest time, those with diabetes were met with a predicament; if they wanted to test their blood-glucose levels, then they had to prick their skin and draw blood in order to get an accurate answer. However, with this new graphene based innovation, glucose monitoring will be as simple as glancing at a digital interface. The technology is only as small as an apple watch, and is meant to be worn on the abdomen as a patch. From there, the electric field from the graphene patch is able to draw up molecules from your body, and sends the gathered glucose levels and charts to your smart device. While it reads your interstitial fluid rather than your blood, it’s still just as effective as both correlate with each other.

While the innovation is still in the works, it’s proven to be successful so far as being the solution to “The Holy Grail problem”. It’s even likely to be the first step towards future graphene based bodily monitors, and it should all be as simple as wearing a patch on your skin.
